Sublime Scuba Photography is owned by photographer and writer Elaine Whiteford. A photographer before she was a diver, taking pictures underwater was a natural development for Elaine. Her photographs and articles have appeared in a number of publications.

Elaine learned to dive in the warm waters of Mauritius in 2002 and converted to cold water diving in 2003. She dives regularly in Scotland and has also dived in the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea, the Mediterranean and Iceland. She is a PADI Instructor.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Elaine took her first underwater images in St Lucia in 2003 although she had been taking travel photographs for many years before that. 

She began experimenting with a Canon A40 digital camera and was so impressed with the results that she moved from shooting transparencies to shooting digital on land as well as underwater. 

Elaine now uses Olympus and Canon digital cameras in Ikelite housings sourced from Cameras Underwater.  On land, Elaine shoots mainly on a Canon digital SLR.

Elaine is a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS). The Royal Photographic Society was founded in 1853 and is the most prestigious international photographic society, long recognised for high photographic standards. To become a Licentiate, photographers must submit a portfolio of 10 images which are assessed for composition, technique and technical quality by a highly qualified panel. Elaine's successful portfolio featured 10 underwater images.

Elaine is also a member of the British Society of Underwater Photographers.

In addition to underwater photography, Elaine is still an active topside photographer. You can see a selection of her images at Sublime Shots.  These include topside images of many dive destinations including Egypt, the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean, Malta and Iceland. Other image categories include the Natural World and People.
