PUBLICATIONS

As well as taking photographs, Elaine also writes about the marine world. Her writing and photography have appeared in various publications and her images have been used by a range of organisations for promotional purposes. Elaine has had images on the covers of 2 magazines, The Undersea Journal and Scottish Wildlife. Her work has also been published in magazines such as DIVER and The Scot's magazine.

Photo Article in Chic Chat magazine, May, 2008 - Elaine's article Blue Summer appears in contemporary quarterly lifestyle magazine, Chic Chat. Seven underwater images are featured.

DYK Magazine, April 2008 - Elaine's article on the P29 in Malta appears in DYK magazine.

DYK is Scandinavia's biggest diving magazine and is published monthly in both Danish and Swedish. A flash photo show of the P29 can be seen here. You can also read the article online in English at Divernet.

Slideshows For Dive St Abbs & Eyemouth Website, March, 2008 - 2 of Elaine's videos appear on a new site, Dive St Abbs & Eyemouth. This site has been developed by the Berwickshire Dive Tourism Association to promote diving tourism. You can view the 2 slideshows by clicking here.

Image in Scottish Wildlife,March, 2008 - one of Elaine's images is used in Scottish Wildlife to highlight an article on the publication of the report, Finding NIMAs - The Case For Nationally Important Marine Areas. The report is available on the SWT website here.

Photo In Scottish Parliament Biodiversity Exhibition, February, 2008 - Elaine's photo of a dahlia anemone features in an exhibition run by Scottish Environment Link as part of Scottish Environment Week.

The Biodiversity Exhibition is a photographic display which highlights the importance of Scotland's biodiversity. The Exhibition is hosted in The Garden Lobby of the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.

DIVER Magazine, December, 2007 - Elaine's article on the P29 wreck in Malta is published by DIVER Magazine in its January, 2008 issue.

The article contains 5 photographs of the recently scuttled wreck, taken in September of this year.

Image in Scottish Wildlife, November, 2007 - one of Elaine's images of a common starfish features in the November issue of Scottish Wildlife, the magazine of th Scottish Wildlife Trust. The image illustrates an article about Knapdale Reserve.

The reserve is managed along with the Forestry Commission and includes woodlands, tidal lagoons and inland freshwater lochs. The reserve is 4.8km northwest of Lochgilphead.

Placed In BSOUP's Best of British Competition, October, 2007 - Elaine's 6 image portfolio was placed 6th in the annual Best of British Competition run by BSOUP, the British Society of Underwater Photographers.

The images were taken variously at: St Abbs, Eyemouth, Loch Long and Loch Fyne. All images were taken using an Olympus 8080 compact camera in an Ikelite housing and using Ikelite DS50 single strobe.

Gallery At Saatchi Online, September, 2007 - Saatchi Online is an interactive art gallery set up by the renowned Saatchi Gallery in London to showcase artists, including photographers, from around the world.

Royal Photographic Society Projected Image Exhibition, August, 2007 - Elaine's image of a jellyfish is accepted by the Royal Photographic Society for its prestigious Projected Image Exhibition. The image was taken in shallow water in Malta and was among a small number selected from 1000s to appear in the Exhibition.

The exhibition will be shown at a number of venues throughout the UK from October 2007 to March 2008. Details of dates and venues will be posted on the RPS's website

This is the second recent success for Elaine in international photographic competitions. Elaine currently has an image of a crocodile showing in the Edinburgh International Photographic Exhibition. You can see that image and read about the Edinburgh Exhibition here.

Elaine is a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS), a distinction gained with a portfolio of underwater images.
Nature Photographer's Online Magazine, July, 2007 - Elaine's 1000 word article Perspectives On Underwater Photography is published. Intended for a generalist photographer audience, the article includes seven images. which can be viewed as a slideshow.

Scottish Wildlife Trust, February, 2007  - Elaine's image of a shore crab is used in an educational brochure and interpretative information about the Montrose Basin Nature Reserve.  For more information about the Montrose Basin Wildlife Reserve, click here.

Diver Night Dive Photos
 DIVER Magazine, September, 2006  - 2 of Elaine's images and a short piece on a night dive in Xlendi Bay, Gozo, appear in the September, 2006, DIVER Magazine. DIVER is Britain's best-selling diving magazine.

Elaine's images of a cuttlefish and a flying gurnard were taken in shallow water on a night dive in June, 2006.

Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, July, 2006 - the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust are using 3 of Elaine's images on a permanent exhibition for their new visitor centre at Gibraltar Point.

 Exhibition - Gargunnock Festival, May, 2006 - a well received exhibition of Elaine's photos featured in the 2006 Gargunnock Music Festival. 

The exhibition showcased around 20 images, together with interpretative information about underwater photography.

Scottish Wildlife Magazine, May, 2006 - Elaine's picture of a grey seal features in the quarterly magazine of the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

The seal is used to illustrate a piece on the Top Spots for wildlife watching in Scotland. Loch Fleet in the Scottish Highlands is the most northern estuary on the east coast. Its large tidal basin is a resting place for grey seals.

Joint Marine Programme (World Wildlife Fund & Scottish Wildlife Trust) - 2 of Elaine's images used to brief on the establishment of Europe's first Coastal and Marine National Park, to be established in Scotland by 2008. Find out more about the Joint Marine Programme.

Scottish Wildlife Trust  -  9 of  Elaine's images  feature on the Top Shots section of Scottish Wildlife Trust's website (December, 2005). 

Also, two of Elaine's images  appear  in a feature on marine life in the Scottish Wildlife Trust's magazine, Scottish Wildlife (January, 2006).

Undersea Journal, 3rd Quarter, 2005 -  Barbados - a 2000 word photographic essay featuring marine life of Barbados, Barbados wreck diving and topside Barbados attractions.

The Undersea Journal is the official magazine of the Professional Association of Dive Instructors (PADI) and is circulated to every PADI member and dive centre worldwide.

Elaine's photo of an eel is featured on the cover of the Journal, together with a further 25 images.

The Scots Magazine, September, 2005 - Loch Long Perspectives: 1000 word article and 9 images on diving in Loch Long and the marine life which inhabits Scottish sea lochs. 

Previewed as "Fantastic and beautiful underwater imagery" by the  Scots Magazine.
